Second half real estate tax bills have been mailed and will be received in the coming days. Payment deadline is Friday August 10, 2018.  


YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County Treasurer Dan Yemma announces that property owners will receive their second-half real estate tax bills in the mail in the coming days for approximately 166,000 parcels.


The deadline to pay without penalty is Friday, August 10. Property owners who do not receive statements by Monday July 16, 2018 should call the Treasurer's Office at (330) 740-2460 to confirm payment amounts or request copies of bills, Yemma explains.  Final bills for taxpayers who are on out Tax Installment program (T.I.P.) will be mailed starting July 17.


Paying Taxes Online: Please refer to our website: http://treasurer.mahoningcountyoh.gov for more information on electronic check and credit card payments.

Yemma points out that, as has been done the last several tax installments, those choosing to pay online using electronic check will be able to do so with no fee during the period beginning July 10 and ending August 20.  The fee is normally 0.61 cents per transaction.  PLEASE NOTE:  the fee waiver applies to electronic check payments only, transaction fees for credit card payments will still apply. 


Paperless Tax Bills are available: tax payers who want to be part of the “green movement” can take advantage of this free service by viewing the web site http://treasurer.mahoningcountyoh.gov. Click the attachment, “authorization form” then simply fill it out and return to: Mahoning County Treasurer’s Office, 120 Market St., Youngstown, OH  44503.


NEW FOR AUGUST 2018 TAX INSTALLMENT:  Treasurer Yemma announces taxpayers will now have the ability to pay using their credit card in person in the Treasurer’s office.  The transaction fee payable to a third-party vendor is 2.4 % per transaction with a minimum fee of $1.49.


As always, payments may be mailed to the Treasurer's Office Attn: Daniel R. Yemma at 120 Market St., Youngstown, OH  44503.  All payments postmarked on or before the August 10 deadline will be processed as on time payments. Our office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday for tax payers who wish to pay in person. 

 

Approximately $120 million has been charged to the county tax duplicate. The money is dispersed to beneficiaries of each taxing district with the largest percentage going to public school districts.  Additional funds are disbursed according to countywide voted levies for townships, parks, children's services, developmental and mental disabilities, libraries, senior citizens and more, Yemma explains.
