2019 Pavement Reconstruction/Rehabilitation and Waterline Project along Meridian Road in Austintown Township and the City of Youngstown, Mahoning County

The Mahoning County Engineer proposes pavement reconstruction, including full-depth pavement repairs, along 0.42 mile of Meridian Road from Leharps Road north to Riblett Road and 0.52 mile of pavement milling and resurfacing from Riblett Road north to the Trumbull County Line. Additionally, the project proposes the removal and replacement of a waterline underneath Meridian Road. Further improvements include curb, gutter and sidewalk replacement, the installation of a water quality structure, driveway apron reconstruction, concrete median replacement, drainage improvements, the installation of new guardrail with anchor end/bridge terminal assemblies and barrier reflectors, curb ramp upgrades to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, manhole adjustments, new traffic signs and the application of edge/center/stop/crosswalk lines and other pavement markings, as necessary, throughout the newly reconstructed/rehabilitated section of Meridian Road.
During project construction, a minimum of one (1) 10-foot lane of traffic shall be maintained on Meridian Road in each direction on the existing pavement. Access shall be maintained to northbound and southbound Interstate Route (IR) 680 and to all adjacent properties, businesses, and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project.
This transportation improvement is scheduled to begin construction in summer 2019. The estimated construction cost is approximately $2,834,226.
