Hopkins Road Bridge #59 Replacement Project in Boardman Township, Mahoning County
Project No. MAH-Hopkins Road Bridge; PID 104607
December 28, 2019
The Mahoning County Engineer proposes the replacement of the Hopkins Road Bridge #59, over Anderson Run, in Boardman Township. The existing structure is a two-span concrete slab bridge built on stone and concrete abutment walls. The original structure was built in 1937. The existing deteriorated/deficient structure has a structural rating number of 3A and must be replaced. The proposed project consists of constructing a new pre-stressed concrete box beam superstructure on new abutments.
The $417,000.00 project is scheduled to begin construction in the spring of 2020. During project construction, a minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction shall be maintained at all times along Hopkins Road, except when necessary to close Hopkins Road to vehicular traffic just south of Truesdale Road for a maximum of one hundred (100) days to replace the bridge. The official detour route for this closure will utilize Shields Road, Lockwood Boulevard, Arden Boulevard and Canfield Road (U.S. Route 62). Construction, lane restriction, roadway closure and detour information will be posted along Hopkins Road and all intersecting sides streets and on the Mahoning Engineer’s webpage, http://www.mahoningcountyoh.gov/764/More-Information, prior to the start of construction activities. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project.
To ensure the proposed project is viable and successful, the Mahoning County Engineer is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, regulated materials and the general location of the project. The Mahoning County Engineer also requests information regarding the presence of any known cultural resources in the vicinity of the project including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, landmarks and districts.
Any questions and/or comments you may have regarding the environmental impacts and/or the proposed project may be submitted to the address below by February 1, 2019.
