MAH-Bridge Painting Rehabilitation Phase 2 Project in the City of Youngstown and the Village of Lowellville, Mahoning County

The Mahoning County Engineer proposes the rehabilitation and painting of three bridges located in the City of Youngstown and one bridge located in the Village of Lowellville. The bridge information and proposed work on each is:
Oak Street Ext. Bridge over Dry Run (SFN 5058163) in Youngstown: The original structure was built in 1956. The existing deteriorated structure has a structural rating of 4A and must be rehabilitated. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic for a maximum of forty-five days (45) and the official detour route for this closure will utilize McCartney Road (US 422) and Coitsville-Hubbard Road (SR 616). Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project.
Old Furnace Road Bridge over Mill Creek (SFN 5058392) in Youngstown: The original structure was built in 1974. The existing deteriorated structure has a structural rating of SA and must be rehabilitated. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic for a maximum of forty-five days (45) and the official detour route for this closure will utilize Glenwood Avenue, Canfield Road (SR 62) and Bears Den Road. Access to the Artists Trail, Pioneer Pavilion and parking lot located on the west side of the bridge and the Slippery Rock Trail, East Cohasset and West Cohasset Trails located on the east side of the bridge and all other Mill Creek Park facilities shall be maintained at all times throughout the project.
Dewey Avenue Bridge over Gibson Run and Y&S RR (SFN 5058406) in Youngstown: The original structure was built in 1958. The existing deteriorated structure has a structural rating of 4A and must be rehabilitated. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic for a maximum of forty-five days (45) and the official detour route for this closure will utilize Market Street (SR 7), E. Indianola Avenue and South Avenue. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project.
First Street Bridge over Mahoning River (SFN 5052149) in Lowellville: The original structure was built in 1966. The existing deteriorated structure has a structural rating of SA and must be rehabilitated. Bi-directional traffic will be maintained on one lane of the bridge at all times through use of temporary traffic signals. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project.
The $1,800,000.00 project is scheduled to begin construction in summer 2022. Construction, lane restrictions, roadway closures and detour information will be posted along each road and at all intersecting side streets and also on the Mahoning County Engineer's webpage, http://www.mahoningcountyoh.gov/764/More-lnformation, prior to the start of construction activities.
To ensure the proposed project is viable and successful, the Mahoning County Engineer is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, regulated materials and the general location of the project. The Mahoning County Engineer also requests information regarding the presence of any known cultural resources in the vicinity of the project including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, landmarks and districts.
