UPCOMING PROJECT INFORMATION
NEW LIGHTING AND SIDEWALKS PLANNED FOR US ROUTE 422 AND STATE ROUTE 616 IN COITSVILLE TOWNSHIP AND CITY OF YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County Engineer plans to provide new lamp post style lighting and sidewalk along US Route 422 and State Route (SR) 616 in Coitsville Township and the city of Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. The project proposes to install a total of eighteen (18) new lamp post/light assemblies within existing roadway right-of-way and along both sides of SR 616 from the Brownstone Court building to the US Route 422/SR 616 intersection and along US Route 422 from the US Route 422/SR 616 intersection to west of Kish Drive. Additionally, the project proposes new sidewalk along the west side of SR 616 from the Brownstone Court building to the existing bridge over Dry Run Creek and along the south side of US Route 422 from the US Route 422/SR 616 intersection to Victory Christian Church.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT. The proposed project will not impact any cultural resources, suspect hazardous waste sites or result in impacts to ecological resources. The project will not result in substantial impacts to the environment either individually or cumulatively. In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (codified as 36 CFR 800), the Mahoning County Engineer requests information regarding the presence of any known cultural resources in the vicinity of the project. Cultural resources include prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, sites and districts.
The transportation improvement is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2017. The estimated construction cost is approximately $220,500. During project construction, a minimum of one lane of traffic shall be maintained in each direction on US Route 422 and SR 616 at all times. In addition, pedestrian traffic and access to adjacent properties will be maintained at all times during construction activities.
