The Mahoning County Juvenile Court Awarded Remote Technology Grant

Youngstown, OH—The Mahoning County Juvenile Court was awarded the Remote Technology Grant by the Supreme Court of Ohio on April 29, 2020.

Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor announced this one-time funding opportunity in March for Ohio courts to purchase equipment necessary to facilitate remote access. The need for such equipment has increased greatly during the COVID-19 pandemic. As many agencies and businesses are temporarily closed or doing business virtually, and stay-at-home orders are in place, having the ability to interact remotely is critical.

The Mahoning County Juvenile Court was awarded $36,833.74 to purchase video conferencing equipment and laptop computers with webcam capabilities. Remote access and video conferencing equipment allows the Mahoning County Juvenile Court to provide services to families in these times of social distancing.

Judge Theresa Dellick states, ”The Juvenile Court is grateful to receive the remote technology grant. It will enable the Court to increase the number of video hearings, meetings, visitations, and conferences held during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
